Pomeranian
The Pomeranian is a tiny, fox-faced spitz breed with a magnificent fluffy double coat and a vivacious personality. Despite weighing only a few pounds, Poms are confident, animated, and surprisingly bold. They are excellent watchdogs and adapt well to various living situations.
History & Origins
Pomeranians descend from large sled dogs in the Arctic region of Pomerania (modern-day Germany and Poland). They were much larger originally, weighing around 30 pounds. Queen Victoria fell in love with the breed during a trip to Italy and began breeding smaller specimens, reducing their size by half.
